Clinical Dietitian

Providence is calling a Dietitian to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, Oregon.

This is a part-time (0.8 FTE or 32 hours per week), benefited, day shift position. Schedule to be determined.

We are seeking an outpatient Dietitian who will work closely with the departmental and interdisciplinary health care team to provide care that is integrated and compatible with patient-centered medical goals and objectives. This position is primarily working with adolescents and adults who suffer from eating disorders along with their families. In addition the RD will provide care to people without eating disorders who are seeking Medical Nutrition Therapy for a variety of nutrition concerns. This position is not in the Providence St Vincent Medical Center eating disorder program. In this position you will have the following responsibilities: Provide medical nutritional therapy to eating disorder patients by assessing nutritional status of patients and establishing a plan of care to improve nutritional status. Provide individualized nutrition counseling to help patients establish and achieve nutritional goals. Provide medical nutritional therapy to eating disorder patients by evaluating the patient’s response to the plan of care, modifying as required for optimal outcomes, and documenting interventions and patients progress. Utilize the Nutrition Care Process and Terminology (NCPT) to assess nutrition status, identify nutrition diagnoses, and perform nutrition-focused physical examinations, interpret examination results and make nutrition diagnoses Apply evidence-based practice guidelines, instructional methods and tools in clinical practice. Utilize nutrition-related information systems and patient medical record systems to successfully coordinate patient nutrition care and dining experiences

Required qualifications for this position includes: Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics, foods and nutrition or related area granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or university, or foreign equivalent Completion of required dietetics coursework and supervised practice through a Didactic Program in Dietetics and Dietetic Internship or Coordinated Program in Dietetics accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) License to practice as a registered dietitian in the State of Oregon Unregistered dietitians who hold a verification statement or certificate of completion from the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) showing completion of the ACEND approved dietetic internship, and who are eligible to take the Commission on Dietetic Registration examination to be a registered dietitian or registered dietitian nutritionist, may be hired with some caveats. Hire is pending passing the examination and being accepted for licensure in Oregon, within 3 months of the hire date. One more attempt at passing the exam may be considered within a specified time frame not to exceed 2 additional months. Should the person again not pass the exam, they will be terminated from employment. This option is only available in facilities where there is another RD LD able to co-sign on all health record notes

Preferred qualifications for this position include: Master's Degree, Registered and licensed dietitians with degree in Dietetics-related field or degree in Dietetics field expected to be conferred within 3 months. One year of experience as a Clinical RD working with eating disorders
