Oregon Academy: Portland Fluoridation Testimony & Action Steps

  • Event
  • Friday, August 24, 2012 - Thursday, September 06, 2012
Details:
The Oregon Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics board members have just voted to support the City of Portland proposal to fluoridate the city water. Portland is one of the very few cities that does not have fluoride in the water, resulting in having one of the worst records of dental health for kids in the nation.

Please contact Portland Commissioners and all you have to say is 'I am a Registered Dietitian and I support fluoridation.' They are getting so many calls (from the opposition mainly) that they do not have time to discuss it.
Dentists, doctors and nurses and their professional associations are actively backing this measure and we think RDs should be heard as well. After all, fluoride and dental health are an integral part of nutrition and we are the nutrition experts!

Action 1) Testify
Testimony will be given on September 6th at 2pm. We are eagerly seeking RDs to testify in support of fluoridation. Please contact Nancy Becker at beckreck@europa.com for more information.
