OHSU Winter Readings Professional Book Club

This year as part of the Winter Readings and Conferences Course, the OHSU graduate students are hosting a “professional book club” that introduces a variety of concepts of “Social Responsibility”. The group plans to read 3 books and will host 3 late afternoon/early evening discussion sessions on each book.

The remaining sessions are scheduled for 5:30-7:30 pm in Gaines Hall Room 47 on February 17th and March 17th.

In February, we will read “Breathe” by Anne Bland (2009) to stimulate conversations about the end-of-life nutrition and hydration care. The author of this book is an RD with years of experience working in ICUs and she takes the reader through her experience as a professional and a daughter as her mother dies. This book was strongly recommended by presenters of this topic at FNCE this year—who said that this is a “must-read” book for all RDs.
