Honoring the Harvest: Sustainable Dairy Farming and Cheese Making in Oregon (Webinar and Tasting)
- Webinar
- Thursday, November 19, 2020
4:00 - 5:30 p.m. Pacific
This virtual tour and tasting adventure will showcase sustainability science in action – how nutrient-rich foods are produced in ways that preserve natural resources. Q and A will be encouraged.
At Rickreall Dairy, we will discuss carbon footprint, water usage, soil health and animal care. Rickreall Dairy is a winner of the 2017 U.S. Dairy Sustainability Award for their commitment to people, animals and our planet.
From there we will travel virtually to Central Point, to Rogue Creamery, Oregon’s first public benefit corporation, “B Corp” for short. Home of the 2019/20 World Champion Cheese, Rogue Creamery is dedicated to sustainability, service, and creating the world’s finest handmade cheese. You’ll learn about the dairy and cows that produce the milk, the process of crafting award winning cheese and the people who are on a mission to make cheese a force for good.
The tour will conclude with a virtual tasting of Rogue Creamery cheeses. Each participant (up to 75 registrants registered by no later than November 6th) will receive a specially selected box of cheese to taste at home along with David Gremmels, Rogue Creamery President, who will lead the tasting from his home. Food and beverage paring suggestions will be sent ahead.
Register via the link or here.
Note that this webinar/tasting is free to Oregon Academy members.
We anticipate that 1 hour CPEU will be approved.
